I think it's already safe to say that The Mandalorian Season 3 is the most star-studded season yet, with each episode featuring appearances from a who's who of Hollywood A-listers, as well as icons from past Star Wars projects.

One cameo that still has fans reeling is Ahmed Best, who emerged in Chapter 20 as Kelleran Beq, a Jedi warrior who was apparently responsible for Grogu's Order 66 salvation.

Longtime fans know him as the actor who breathed life into Jar Jar Binks in the prequels and after two decades of being seen as the most polarizing figure in the franchise, Best was given the opportunity to finally redeem himself.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly to discuss all the Season 3 cameos we've seen so far, creator Jon Favreau explained the decision to cast Best in the MandoVerse. According to him, it was a no-brainer that Kelleran would end up being Grogu's Order 66 savior because it just made sense.

Favreau explains: "He knows how to do double wielding and he'd done a lot of work on that character for Jedi Temple Challenge. He's been involved with Star Wars all the way through and had formulated this character. We love to draw in from all of Star Wars and even things that aren't canon...if they feel right, we'll pull them in."

"It just made sense. You're also looking at, 'Who could it be? Who is on the list?' You don't want to just put a Jedi in there."

"It was great. And now that character exists squarely in Star Wars canon, and boy, I think people dig seeing that character. I want to learn more about that character."

Kelleran hasn't returned to the show since Chapter 20 and it looks like we won't be seeing him in the finale either. Hopefully, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have actual plans for the character because it would be a shame if his appearance was just a one-off.

The Mandalorian's Season 3 finale hits Disney+ tomorrow, April 19.
