The sudden shift in The Mandalorian's storytelling has become pretty evident since Season 3's second episode and unsurprisingly, it's not sitting well with fans of the hit Star Wars series. After last week's jaw-dropping revelation that Bo-Katan Kryze has been handpicked as the one to usher in a new age for Mandalore, Chapter 22 pretty much followed it up with the confirmation that she is indeed the "chosen one".

In this week's episode, titled "Guns for Hire", Din Djarin shockingly handed over the Darksaber to Bo-Katan in order for her to fulfill the age-old prophecy and it left viewers quite divided, not to mention bewildered. You see, although The Armorer has anointed Bo-Katan as the next ruler of Mandalore, legend has it that only the Mandalorian who wields the blade is eligible to lead the clan.

In a wild turn of events, Din reveals that there's no need for him to battle Bo-Katan because technically, she already won the right to gain possession of the Darksaber when she used it to defeat Din's captor in the Mines of Mandalore. The episode ends with Bo-Katan willingly accepting the weapon and her former allies agreeing to the decision.

For a number of weeks now, fans have grown increasingly unhappy with the show putting Mando on the sidelines in favor of Bo-Katan's arc and the latest episode was no different. After that jaw-dropping twist, fans took to Twitter to express their dismay over Pedro Pascal being treated as an afterthought on his own show. Check out some of the reactions here:

I mean, I totally get where the fans are coming from. Heading into the third season, most of us were expecting Din to take his rightful place as the new leader of Mandalore, and for the show's creative direction to be changed just like that is quite frustrating.

However, when you think about it, Mando never showed interest in ruling the clan, and all he cared about was redeeming himself and becoming a bonafide Mandalorian once more.

The latest episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 is now streaming on Disney+.
