The Mandalorian: Disney CEO Addresses Gina Carano Firing

The recent firing of Gina Carano from The Mandalorian is undoubtedly one of the most talked-about topics around the globe. But what does Disney have to say about the matter? Disney CEO Bob Chapek has finally addressed Carano's removal from the Star Wars series.

Chapek recently took part in the annual Disney Shareholders Meeting where he answered several questions from the press. At one point, someone asked if there is "a new Disney blacklist" and Chapek was quick to deny any political partisanship.

"I don't really see Disney as characterizing itself as left-leaning or right-leaning, yet instead of standing for values, values that are universal, values of respect, values of decency, values of integrity and values of inclusion and we seek to have the content that we make reflective of the rich diversity of the world we live in. And I think that's a world we should all live in harmony and peace," Chapek said.

Interestingly, Chapek appears to be stating that Carano's removal from The Mandalorian was not Disney's decision. After all, it was Lucasfilm who made the announcement about the actress being fired from the Star Wars series. On the other hand, many believe that Chapek is implying that Carano's stand isn't in line with Disney's beliefs.

Carano had previously made headlines due to her controversial tweets. At one point, the Deadpool actress allegedly mocked trans pronouns in her Twitter bio although Carano insisted that it wasn't a transphobic move. She eventually took down the pronouns and issued an apology of her own accord.

Interestingly, Carano's removal from The Mandalorian happened after the second season had ended. The actress was reportedly fired from the show due to an anti-semitic Instagram post that she later defended on The Ben Shapiro Show.

Carano played Cara Dune in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian. The third season is expected to begin production soon and will premiere on Disney+ in 2022.
