Momentum was undoubtedly on The Mandalorian's side ahead of Season 3's release and after an action-packed second season, it seemed like the show's creatives could do no wrong. However, the latest installment in the beloved Star Wars series failed to hit the mark with fans, ending in a polarizing fashion.

Still, Jon Favreau is determined to turn the momentum back in their favor and as it stands, a fourth season is reportedly already in the works. The question on everyone's mind is, when exactly can we expect Season 4 to drop, especially now that Hollywood is halted by the WGA strike?

Turns out, Favreau already has everything ironed out but one of the show's directors is casting doubt on when production could start.

Speaking with Deadline, director Rick Famuyiwa gave fans some much-needed update regarding Season 4's production which is reportedly disrupted by the ongoing WGA strike. Confirming that Jon Favreau has already penned the script, Famuyiwa said he doesn't know when exactly they'll start filming.

He said: "A lot of this stuff has to be thought through, built, conceived, and prepped ... That work takes time. That work has to get done ... Jon [Favreau] has written the scripts."

Admittedly, Famuyiwa said that he felt like the show has already reached its peak although he's still excited about what the fourth season has in store. He added: "He's excited about continuing to tell stories in the world. When and how that happens, considering everything, we'll see."

Thankfully, despite Season 3's divisive reception, Lucasfilm didn't choose to pull the plug on the series. Hopefully, this gives Favreau the opportunity to redeem the show and the MandoVerse for that matter because frankly, the stuff they've put out pale in comparison to what Season 2 was able to accomplish.

All three seasons of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney+.
