The Mandalorian Season 3 finally saw Grogu fulfill his true destiny as a Mandalorian apprentice for Din Djarin — and a Force-wielding one at that. However, the polarizing season still failed to answer the biggest question fans have been dying to know about the character since his debut in 2019.

You see, three seasons in and we've yet to know Grogu's true backstory apart from the fact that he was a youngling during the events of Order-66. Over the years, there's been major speculation that he might actually be related to Master Yoda and it's an idea that isn't too farfetched to buy into.

Some wild fan theories even suggest that he might be Yoda and Yaddle's offspring but I guess we'll never truly know.

At this year's Star Wars Celebration in London, executive producer Dave Filoni offered his honest answer regarding the whole chatter surrounding Grogu's origin. According to Filoni, they have no plans of ever introducing the Child's biological parents and as it stands, Din Djarin is his family.

Filoni said: "No I don’t think so no not for me, Mando’s his family". In Chapter 24, Grogu was formally adopted by Mando and was given the "Din Grogu" name.

I think we can all agree that it would be very tempting for The Mandalorian's creatives to explore Grogu's backstory because that alone would keep the series going. However, it's worth mentioning that Star Wars creator George Lucas always wanted Yoda's origin to remain a mystery.

If anything, Filoni's desire to keep Grogu an enigmatic character is his way of paying tribute to his mentor, and as a viewer, I actually don't mind them going that route.

All three seasons of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney+.
