Warning: If you haven't seen The Mandalorian Season 3's finale, this article contains MAJOR SPOILERS so read at your own risk!

It goes without saying that The Mandalorian exists to bridge the gap between the original and sequel trilogies. Of course, the unprecedented popularity of the Star Wars spinoff show turned it from just a filler show to its own thing that fans have been quite invested in since its inception.

That's not to say though that it completely forgot about its true purpose because the last two seasons have slowly planted the seeds for the sequel trilogy. Now, after nearly three years, the show offers some much-needed clarity on Moff Gideon's diabolical plan many believe is connected to the sequels.

You see, it was revealed in Season 2 why Gideon was hell-bent on obtaining Grogu and getting a sample of his blood. He was doing experiments related to cloning along with Doctor Pershing.

Understandably, fans came to the conclusion that Gideon was the one responsible for bringing Supreme Leader Snoke to life, one of the sequel trilogy's antagonists later revealed to be a creation of Emperor Palpatine.

Well, it turns out that the main driving force behind Gideon's cloning experiment was to create multiple versions of himself that would end up having the ability to wield the Force, with the help of Grogu's blood sample.

Unfortunately for the Imperial leader, Mando and Grogu were able to foil his plans after Din destroyed every chamber containing his clones.

This pretty much puts an end to the long-standing theory surrounding Gideon and his supposed connection to Snoke. It's worth noting though that in Chapter 23, he pointed out that Commandant Brendol Hux also has an "obsession" with cloning so it's possible that he was actually behind Snoke's creation.
