This week's episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 was the perfect setup for the upcoming finale and to say that it's exhilarating is quite an understatement. The conclusion to Chapter 23, titled "The Spies" may have left viewers picking up their jaws on their respective floors but it started off just like your typical Mandalorian episode. In fact, before all the mayhem ensued, the seventh episode saw an equally hilarious and endearing moment featuring Grogu.
After Bo-Katan Kryze convinces the Nite Owls to join their cause, the Mandalorian privateers head to Nevarro where the covert led by The Armorer awaits them. We then see Greef Karga welcome the planet's guests and the High Magistrate hands over his little token of appreciation to Din Djarin for aiding them against Pirate King Gorian Shard.
Turns out, that wasn't the only gift he had for Mando. He later presents him with a reprogrammed IG-11, which has been rechristened as IG-12. The old droid's memory circuit has been removed and the Anzellans also took the liberty of making a few modifications, adding a cockpit to the droid.
Obviously, since Mando won't be able to pilot IG-12, Grogu took control of the droid and that's where all the fun began. Despite Mando's disapproval, the Child giddily operated IG-12 and instantly felt at home using it.

Now, we don't know for sure how useful IG-12 will be for Grogu because let's face it, his Force-wielding abilities already make him a standout but that's not to say that we should underestimate the droid because it was once vital to saving Mando. Perhaps the same thing will happen in the finale now that he has been captured by Moff Gideon.
