The Little Mermaid: Terry Crews Rules The Sea As King Triton In New Image

While there's been a lot of controversy surrounding Disney's decision to cast black actress Halle Bailey as the live-action version of Ariel in the studio's remake of The Little Mermaid, fans have also been busy trying to name actors that could potentially play the role of Ariel's father, King Triton.

Some fans have been nominating Marvel star Idris Elba for the role. Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews, on the other hand, has been naming himself for the part. Taking to Twitter, America's Got Talent host expressed eagerness to take over the role when he spotted fan art showing him under the sea as King Triton.

Now, popular fan artist Boss Logic shares a new art piece imagining what Crews might look like as King Triton in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

Check it out down here:

From the looks of it, Crews would make the perfect father for Bailey's Ariel – though some fans would probably disagree and name their favorite black actor for the part.

Right now, The Little Mermaid is facing a lot of contention with its casting. Fans have been complaining about Disney's decision to hand over the role to Bailey, saying that the studio isn't following its source material closely enough.

Still, there are many others who love the casting, including original Little Mermaid star Jodi Benson. The voice actress spoke out against the backlash, saying that the color of skin and ethnicity doesn't really matter – what matters is the ability to tell a good story.

The Little Mermaid has yet to receive a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
