The Little Mermaid Live-Action May Have Found its Scuttle and Flounder

News was going around last week that Melissa McCarthy was being eyed to play Ursula for the live-action Little Mermaid film, and now there's a new rumor going around that they film has also found people to play other roles in the film.

According to longtime entertainment journalist Kris Tapley, the movie is looking at Jacob Tremblay (Room) for the role of Ariel's best friend Flounder and Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, Ocean's Eight) as the seagull Scuttle.

For now, we don't have anything official for the movie, but there were heavy rumors that Spider-Man: Far from Home star Zendaya was being eyed to play Ariel. Who knows, with her roles in The Greatest Showman and Spider-Man, I think having her as the new Ariel could actually be a huge draw for audiences.

Going back to Ursula though, I think Disney should take the leap and hire a drag queen to play the character. If you did your research, you'll know that the sea witch was based off 70s drag queen Divine, and I think a lot of people are already outraged that the film is looking at Melissa McCarthy to play Ursula.

If you ask me, they should have The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt's Titus Burgess play the role. He already plays Sebastian in the play, but I think he would be a perfect Ursula.

No release date has been set for the live-action The Little Mermaid.
