There's been a lot of argument and debate amongst fans as to who is the best version of the iconic DC character Batman. The names Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, and even voice actor Kevin Conroy are always guaranteed to pop up in every Batfan conversation but according to one Batman author, none of them truly embodied what the Dark Knight was all about which is quite puzzling when you think about it.

Alan Moore, author of the iconic Batman: The Killing Joke novel is sounding off on the heated Bat-debate and his choice for the best actor to play Batman is a controversial one, to say the least, and might even raise a few eyebrows. In a recent interview with Deadline, Moore made a bold claim and said he thinks Adam West's campy portrayal in the 1960s Batman TV show is the best version of the character and he has his reasons. He explains: "Increasingly I think the best version of Batman was Adam West, which didn't take it at all seriously."

Now, while it's indeed a controversial take from Moore considering Batman is mainly associated with darkness and grittiness by fans, I kinda understand why he chose the '60s iteration of Batman because when you think about it, West's version of the caped crusader was the closest to how the character was initially presented in the comics. Then again, it will always go down as a matter of preference. And that's not to say West was an awful Batman because I think he did a tremendous job with the character, all things considered.
