The Kaiju Clash in New Trailer for Godzilla: King of Monsters

We were promised a new trailer for Godzilla: King of Monsters last week, and Legendary has finally delivered. We now have a new preview for the film, and it gives us our best looks at the new Kaiju including Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah.

Here's the official description:

Following the global success of "Godzilla" and "Kong: Skull Island" comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action-adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance.

We get a lot more background on the story thanks to the trailer. We now know a bit about how Monarch is approaching the beasts, and how they plan to ‘recruit' some of them on their side. We also see the returning Ken Watanabe from the first Godzilla movie as well, and he really seems like the only person in the room who knows the most about Godzilla.

I'll admit, I wasn't expecting the second trailer to top the first one, and it didn't. Sure we got a new look at all the monsters, but we didn't have any of that music choice that made the first preview so memorable. If anything, it looks like another generic monster film—albeit all the kaiju do look awesome in their new shots.

Catch Godzilla: King of Monsters in theaters May 31, 2019.
