The Gorillaz Is Getting Their Own Netflix Movie

The popular animated band Gorillaz will be heading to the big screen! In an interview with Apple Music, the band’s frontman Damon Albarn confirmed the news of a full-length Gorillaz animated film. The film will be released on Netflix, and the project is now in the writing phase. He also confirmed that he was in Malibu at that time to be part of the writing session.

Albarn is very much excited about the project and said that this had been one of the things that he wanted to do for quite a while. This is not the first time that Gorillaz wanted to get into the world of television and movies as co-creator Jamie Hewlett mentioned in 2017 that a ten-episode Gorillaz animated series was in the works. The project was then canceled as the series was too dark and was a risk to spend on the production.

Albarn is confident in this Netflix film project, and he is looking forward to what the creative team would put on the table to make this happen. As of this time, there is still no word as to when this movie will premiere on the platform. But with this big announcement, people are looking forward to it.

Gorillaz is notable by many fans worldwide as they are featured as animated characters in their music videos rather than their real-life selves. The group consists of the following members: 2-D (vocals and keyboards), Murdoc (bass guitar), Noodle (guitar, keyboards, and vocals), and Russel (drums). The virtual band started in 1998. Their self-titled debut album Gorillaz was released on March 26, 2001 and was a huge success. The album even won the Guinness Book of World Records as the Most Successful Virtual Band.

Some of their hit songs are Tomorrow Comes Today, Rock the House, and Clint Eastwood. The band is also notable for doing collaborations with other artists.

We are looking forward to the upcoming Gorillaz film, which will surely skyrocket them to success when released.
