After getting a mixed response with its trailer, The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses Episode 1 has further divided fans because of its controversial CGI animation.

While the show has a cute school romance premise, most of the discussions about the first episode were about the over-the-top animation style that has become the signature of the studio GoHands.

Given how eye-catching the style is, the show has drawn all kinds of responses online, with some being big fans of it.

It may not be one of the most popular studios out there like MAPPA or CloverWorks, but GoHands is a studio that’s infamous among certain anime fans for its uniquely animated work.

Specifically, the studio worked on Hand Shakers, the 2017 anime that has been criticized by many anime fans. In fact, the show is rated an abysmally low 5.27 on MyAnimeList.

Despite drawing criticism, GoHands has doubled down on its house style with The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses, which surprisingly had quite several fans.

Following the first episode’s release, some viewers expressed their appreciation for the show’s unique look and detailed character animation.

While the unusual camera angles of the anime were talked about, some fans still thought that it was an interesting choice that makes the show even more eye-catching.

Of course, not everyone was this enthusiastic as there was a seemingly equal number of fans that hated the anime’s look.

Although a certain section of the show’s viewers loved the animation, others think the animation is bad.

Specifically, many of those critical of the anime cited the unnatural CGI animation and weird camera angles to be distracting.

Some are even saying that the combination of the animation and angles make for a headache-inducing watch. It doesn’t help that some backgrounds seem too bright and disruptive.

It’s tough to say exactly how many viewers hated the first episode, but from the looks of it, the reception is split between those who liked and disliked the show.

New episodes of The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses are streamed every week on Crunchyroll in the US and other selected regions.

For those that disliked the animation, the manga is available on Comikey.
