After years of delays and controversies surrounding its lead star, The Flash is finally arriving in theaters this week. There has been a lot of anticipation for the film since it will explore the multiverse and mark the return of Michael Keaton's Batman 31 years after we last saw him on the screen.
The insiders at Warner Bros. and DC have also been excited about the film despite Ezra Miller's controversies and have high hopes that it will be a huge hit. DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn even claimed that the film is "one of the greatest superhero movies ever made" which is obviously a huge praise.
Now, Variety has confirmed that The Flash will have its first public advanced screening at this year's CinemaCon in Las Vegas which is set to take place from April 24 to 27. By that time, it will be around six weeks ahead of its official release in theaters making it an early premiere for the film.
This is certainly an exciting development for the film since it is an indication that the studio has high confidence as they are willing to show it publicly weeks ahead of its release and they are expecting positive word-of-mouth which will help its buzz before it makes its way to theaters.
They employ a strategy similar to what Paramount Pictures did with Top Gun: Maverick last year when they also screened the entire film during the event weeks ahead of its release in theaters. It ended up becoming a huge box-office success thanks to the buzz that was created leading up to its release.
The film's synopsis reads: "Worlds collide in when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to."
"That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian... albeit not the one he’s looking for," the synopsis continues. "Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"
The cast also includes Michael Shannon, Sasha Calle, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, and Ben Affleck. Andy Muschietti directed the film while Christina Hodson wrote the screenplay.
