Henry Cavill's status in the DC Extended Universe has remained a huge mystery to a lot of fans but judging by Warner Bros. Pictures' current slate of upcoming shows and films, it doesn't look like any project involving the British actor is part of their list of priorities. Of course, this has caused major concern within the fandom because Cavill was originally set to lead the sequel to 2013's Man of Steel.

There have been persistent rumors suggesting that Cavill will make cameo appearances in a slew of DCEU projects, including Ezra Miller's standalone The Flash film but as it stands, nothing has been confirmed yet. However, producer Barbara Muschietti recently fueled speculation of a Superman cameo in the 2022 film. It all started when Barbara liked an Instagram comment from a fan who said he's hoping to see Cavill in the film.

Of course, that doesn't really say much but what if Cavill is actually part of the project and his involvement is just being kept under wraps? It would make a lot of sense after all considering the film will see the debut of Supergirl. Not only that but the film is also taking a page out of the Flashpoint comic which sees Superman as one of the major characters.

It's worth noting that the second DC FanDome is only a few days away and there's actually a good chance that WB will finally announce something Henry Cavill-related but despite the possibilities, it's hard to keep our hopes up. There's still hope when you think about it but we can't argue the fact that time is totally running out for him.

The Flash is slated for release in November 2022.
