The Flash Movie Director Confirms Grant Gustin Almost Made a Cameo Appearance

Aside from the highly-anticipated return of Michael Keaton as Batman, The Flash is expected to feature surprise cameo appearances from various DC actors in the past although most of the details remain under wraps at the moment.

There were rumors in the past that Grant Gustin, who plays Barry Allen/The Flash in the CW series, will make a cameo in the film. However, the actor recently shot down the rumor and explained that he didn't film any scenes for the movie.

As reported by Nerdist, during the reception after the film's CinemaCon screening, The Flash director Andy Muschietti confirmed that Gustin almost made a cameo appearance in the film, but it didn't happen as there was no room to include him.

"Of course, as I said before the list of cameos…was huge. So obviously we played with the idea of including DC characters from TV, but we just had to pick," he said.

Muschietti also revealed that there were several more characters from past DC films and TV shows that they were planning to include in the movie, but they were left on the cutting room floor as they couldn't fit them.

Some of the characters that he confirmed to not be making cameo appearances in the film are Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman from the '70s show, Marlon Brando’s Jor-El from the 1978 Superman movie, and Burgess Meredith’s Penguin and Cesar Romero’s Joker from the Batman TV show in the '60s.

It is disappointing for some fans who were hoping that Gustin will be making a cameo appearance in the film similar to what Ezra Miller did when he made a cameo in the Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event.

It sounds like they were really considering including Gustin, but they didn't find a way to have him be part of the film even for just a quick second. Perhaps the scheduling also didn't work out which is why it didn't happen.

Nevertheless, if the word around the streets is true, it sounds like the movie was still able to deliver a lot of satisfying cameo appearances in the film and it was also able to work even with the absence of Gustin.
