The Flash Leading Man Grant Gustin Supports the Firing of Hartley Sawyer

Fans of The Flash were shocked when Ralph Dibny actor Hartley Sawyer was fired after some old tweets of the actor resurfaced, showing a possibly racist and misogynistic side of himself to the public. Though he has since apologized for the tweets, Sawyer was swiftly fired from the show and won't be returning for The Flash Season 7, with showrunner Eric Wallace releasing a lengthy and well-worded statement on the firing.

Grant Gustin, who plays the lead character in The Flash, shared Wallace's statement and is in full support of his showrunner's comments. This means that they both support the firing of Sawyer so it will be interesting to see what happens to Ralph Dibny now that he won't be appearing in The Flash Season 7.

While he didn't add much, Gustin did add a small statement saying how he was angry and disappointed when he saw the tweets from Sawyer. Here's what Gustin had to say: "I don't have much to add because Eric's thoughts are stated so eloquently and powerfully. I will say I was shocked, saddened and angry when I saw the tweets. Words matter."

It's not yet known how they will write off Dibny from the show, with many assuming that they will either get a new actor to play the same character or kill him and cast someone to play a brand-new character. They are doing it for Batwoman Season 2 so it's really not that surprising if they do that for this incident.

No release date for The Flash Season 7 has been announced, though we do know that Hartley Sawyer won't be in it.
