The Flash Director Breaks Silence on Ezra Miller’s Controversy Amid DC Screening

DC fans may have been long awaiting for the solo film, The Flash, to come out in spite of its continuous delays, especially since we’ll be seeing the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman on screen.

However, one of the biggest reasons that hindered the hype was due to Warner Bros. consciously deciding to maintain Ezra Miller’s status as its leading DC hero.

The 30-year-old actor had been arrested multiple times for different committed crimes including being accused of grooming minors and being charged for burglary.

The Flash director Andy Muschietti and producer Barbara Muschietti spoke out amidst the unresolved controversy towards the star, claiming that Miller is doing better than his previous behavior.

“Ezra [Miller] is well now,” Andy said during a Q&A for The Flash at CinemaCon (via comicbook.com).

“We’re all hoping that they get better… They’re taking the steps to recovery.” The director added, “They’re dealing with mental health issues, but they’re well.”

When asked about the progress of Miller’s resolve, he confirmed, “We talked to them not too long ago and they’re very committed to getting better.”

The Flash producer then praised Miller for their commitment to the role:

“And I have to say, during our shoot, during principal photography, their commitment to the role was something we’ve never seen.”

Barbara shared: “And the discipline to the work, the willingness — physical, mental, and just wanting to go beyond the pale — is just amazing.”

The Flash star last addressed the controversy by releasing an official public statement in regards to their struggling about their mental health.

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said.

“I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

DC’s The Flash is expected to hit theaters on June 16.
