After years filled with setbacks and controversies surrounding Ezra Miller's personal life, The Flash is finally hitting cinemas this week and things are looking quite promising for the DC flick, with most fans and critics who have already seen it raving about the Andy Muschietti-directed film.

Of course, the folks behind the film, including Miller himself are hopeful that a sequel will actually happen. Obviously, the ball is in James Gunn and Peter Safran's court, and with their plans to revamp the franchise already in play, it seemingly reduces any chances of The Flash getting a part two.

Well, it looks like there's hope for the film after all and as per a new report, The Flash 2 is still a possibility.

According to a report from The Wrap, despite The Flash's uncertain status in the rebooted DC Universe, as well as Ezra Miller's personal scandals, WB Discovery isn't closing its doors on greenlighting a potential sequel.

But in order for it to happen, the outlet reports that the film must come close to the total box office profits of Matt Reeves' The Batman which grossed $770 million worldwide.

As it stands, the multiversal flick which also features the return of Michael Keaton as Batman after three decades is currently tracking to open around $70 million at the domestic box office.

Those numbers are a little underwhelming by superhero film standards, especially considering recent comic book movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse grossed $118 million and $120 million respectively.

The idea makes absolute sense, especially from a business standpoint because after all, who wouldn't want the film to become profitable? I guess the only issue WB Discovery and DC Studios could end up facing is Ezra's public perception. Obviously, fans have not forgotten about his controversies and it would take a lot to clean his image.

DC's The Flash is hitting cinemas this Friday.
