The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Could Possibly Bring in Another Black Captain America

News had just come out that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier had cast Supergirl star Carl Lumbly, and while we have no official disclosure on who he's playing, it's possible that he could be someone connected deep into Captain America's past.

According to /Film, it's possible that Lumbly could be playing the part of Isaiah Bradley, another super soldier in the program before Steve Rogers was recruited. In the comics, Bradley was the only survivor among hundreds of black candidates who tried out for the serum. It's also worth noting that his grandson, Elijah Bradley, is the Young Avengers' Patriot.

While I think it's possible that Lumbly could be the original Captain America, I think they should make him significantly older in the series. I mean, if Steve Rogers is 106 in Endgame, then Bradley should be close to that age as well, maybe even older. Then again, they can just say that the side effect of his serum is that it slowed down his age.

Seeing that there's already controversy surrounding Sam Wilson as the new Captain, it adds another layer of characterization that the original Captain America was actually black, and he was sidelined to have Rogers be the face of the super-soldier program instead. I mean, I'm sure Rogers didn't know, but it would be interesting if he did know and just played along to the military's plan; but then again, we know Steve isn't up for compromises, so he'll probably still do the right thing.

Will Isaiah Bradley make his MCU debut? We'll just have to wait and see when The Falcon and The Winter Soldier comes out this August.
