The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan Announce Production Start

It may be a while before we get the next Captain America film, but Disney has decided to make a miniseries on Steve Rogers' protégés Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. Just in, the series stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan have announced the start of production.

They did so with IG stories, but luckily some fans on Twitter managed to capture the clips:

Mackie also made his own announcement on Twitter:

We don't have an official synopsis for the film yet, but rumor has it that the series will deal with the next person to take up the mantle of Captain America. While Sam was the obvious choice by Steve himself, it's said that the government doesn't want Sam to be the new face of America, probably because he's kind of a renegade soldier.

It would be cool if they actually had Rhodey appear in the series as kind of an antagonist, seeing as the government is likely to prefer him for the part seeing as he's a soldier who follows orders.

It's also worth mentioning that Civil War baddie Baron Zemo is going to be making a comeback with the show. Though he was actually successful in breaking up the Avengers, I always thought his villain was kind of forgettable. Hopefully, they make better use of him with this upcoming series.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is the first Marvel mini-series coming to Disney+ and is set for a release in the fall of 2020. Disney+ launches on Nov. 12.
