What a way to set up the finale and the penultimate episode of The Last of Us clearly delivers the best acting that the series has seen because that, everyone, just brought a whole lot of emotions from each of the characters.

The Last of Us Episode 8, When We Are In Need, shows Ellie encountering David and their group who are revealed to be cannibals. The others did not even know they are eating their own kind as David and the few who knows the truth passes it off as deer meat.

While that did not end well for David and some of their men, The Last of Us Episode 8 clearly shows how vile and sinister people can be in the worst of times. Other than eating their own kind, David is a walking hypocrisy. While he preaches, his personal agenda remains supreme on him.

The Last of Us Episode 8 sets up Joel and Ellie being a father and daughter who will do everything they can for each other. Despite being wounded, Joel musters all his strength to look for Ellie. Ellie, on the other hand, does all that she could to survive and come back to Joel.

Going through the worst of the worst, this cements to everyone how they treat each other, and that is pivotal for the finale in The Last of Us Episode 9 where they would be at the end of the line, St. Mary's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Whether The Last of Us Episode 9 would be exactly how the game put it out or not, it all boils down to Joel and Ellie being there for each other no matter what the cost would be and The Last of Us Episode 8 perfectly set that up.

The Last of Us Episode 8 is now streaming on HBO Max.
