After the episode revolved around T'Challa being the wrong child kidnapped by the Ravagers, growing up with Yondu, becoming one of the most known heroes across the universe, pulling off a heist against The Collector, and coming back home to Wakanda, the end scene of Marvel's What If..? Episode 2, titled "What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?," showed Ego who made his own trip to Earth to see his son.

Ego made a stop in Dairy Queen where it turns out Peter Quill grew up to be a janitor. Ego approached his son with his eyes glowing, and the scene panned out to the outside where it was shown that Ego made his own trip to look for his son considering that the Ravagers failed to get his son and kidnapped another child.

This very restaurant, Dairy Queen, was already seen in the MCU on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 during the montage of Ego and the mother of Quill having a date, showing her the seed he planted here on Earth. Showing it in Marvel's What If..? makes it an easter egg worth catching especially with Quill working there and being the place where he meets his real father.

It turns out Quill lived a normal life, away from space, possibly staying in Missouri for the rest of his childhood and adult life. His mother might have lived longer than usual; however, it does not discount the fact that he is a half-Celestial and therefore, a powerful being in the universe. His roots could make him easy to convince to come with Ego to his planet.

One thing to consider, though, is the absence of the Guardians of the Galaxy on his side. How will Peter Quill deal with his father now that he has lived a normal life on Earth instead of growing up in space with Yondu? With such a cliffhanger, it is expected that the series will come back to this arc some other time given that the next episode will surely be another story of a different character.

Marvel's What If..? Episode 2 is now streaming on Disney+.
