With Season 2 airing its final episode this week, The Devil Is a Part-Timer! just announced that an anime sequel is coming in 2023, and it might be a Season 3 for the series.
The announcement was made shortly after the 12th and final episode of Season 2. Its reveal came via the show’s official website and Twitter account.
There, the announcement was accompanied by a new visual featuring a new character named Acieth Alla.

Based on the announcement tweet, this upcoming sequel will follow the events of Season 2 and feature a new character.
A sequel being announced for The Devil Is a Part-Timer! is quite surprising given the history of the series.
In case you’re unfamiliar, The Devil Is a Part-Timer! (or Hataraku Maō-sama!) is an anime that’s based on the light novel series of the same name by Satoshi Wagahara.
The light novel series ran from February 2011 to August 2020, and it consists of 21 volumes.
The series got an anime adaptation by studio White Fox that aired from April to June 2013.
While the first season was a moderate hit, it did not get a follow-up anime, that is until the Summer 2022 season.
Its second season finally aired from July to September 2022, though this time, it was animated by studio 3Hz, and it features a slightly different art style. But it still follows the events of the light novel.
Typically, light novel adaptations are made while the novel series is ongoing, so it’s surprising to see the anime continue even though The Devil Is a Part-Timer! has concluded.
The series’ story follows the Demon Lord Satan who is defeated by the hero Emilia and her companions.
Before meeting his demise, Satan was able to open a portal from the world of Ente Isla to Earth.
Satan and his general, Alciel, travel through the portal and find themselves in modern Tokyo.
As Earth lacks magic, the two find themselves having to pass off as humans. To survive, Satan takes on the name Sadao Maou and takes a part-time job at a fast-food restaurant.
While he does this, Satan still seeks to take control of Earth and return to Ente Isla, but he will do so by climbing up the career ladder.
While a sequel is confirmed, there is no word yet on what exactly this sequel will be.
While many fans believe that this sequel is a new season, there are also those who think that this might be a movie.
Whatever the case may be, what we do know is that this upcoming sequel will be released sometime in 2023.
