Robert Pattinson got the offer to play the new Batman while he was on the set of Tenet, which so happens to be helmed by the Dark Knight trilogy director himself, Christopher Nolan. He eventually allowed Pattinson to audition for the part and the rest is history.

Outside of Nolan's new film, the director was recently asked by CNA about whether or not Pattinson talked to him about the role. "He certainly did not ask me for any advice," Nolan said. "We kept a respectful silence around the issue until very near the end of the shoot."

"We said a couple of things and made a couple of jokes," he continued. "We did have a little bit of a conversation about the various aspects of what he was going to be putting himself through."

With that being said, Nolan is "thrilled" that Pattinson was cast as the new Batman and thinks that the actor will do an "amazing job." "I'm really excited to see what he does with that character," he added.

Unfortunately, Nolan didn't go into detail about some of the discussions he had with Pattinson on taking on the iconic role. It's totally understandable, though, and come to think of it, Pattinson received a blessing of sorts from the director himself.

Fans got to see Pattinson's Dark Knight in action in The Batman trailer during the recent DC FanDome event. The movie is currently is set for release on October 1, 2021.
