The CW's Batwoman Isn't Allowed to Use This Major Character

The CW's Batwoman is looking pretty solid and should be another enjoyable DC show from this network. Granted, it's the CW, so some dialogue is going to be cheesier than it has to be but at this point, fans already know what to expect; in the end, they just want characters to root for and cool villains to hate. Hopefully, this show delivers.

Fans who have seen the trailer already know that this show deviates from the source material in a number of ways but it's done for the better. This way, fans won't ask "where's Bruce Wayne?" when they see Batwoman in action since they know that's a big mystery of the show. However, fans might be disappointed to know that an important character won't be in this series; Renee Montoya.

Yup, Batwoman's long-time girlfriend and the character who is almost-always paired up with her will not be in the show. According to showrunner Caroline Dries (via CBR), The CW isn't allowed to use the character right now. Apparently, she will be in a movie soon and that movie is Birds of Prey, where Renee will be portrayed by Rosie Perez.

"It's too early to tell with Renee. We're not allowed to use her because they're using her in a movie coming up. Maybe when that movie comes and goes, they'll let us use her."

Batwoman will be coming to the CW on October 6.
