Before he cut his teeth in movies like Good Time and The Lighthouse, Robert Pattinson was well-known as Edward from Twilight and it's a decision that haunted his casting in The Batman. We're quite excited to see him put on the Batman suit and see how he handles being both Bruce Wayne and The Dark Knight, though we're still waiting for more details on that movie.
Speaking with Jennifer Lopez on Variety's Actors on Actors series, Pattinson decided to open up about Twilight and why he thinks those movies have a weird romance. Most of us thought that the movies were poorly-made and had a terrible love story, almost ruining how many viewed vampires and werewolves for the longest time. The final movie even has a werewolf falling in love with a baby and I wish that was a joke.
Anyway, here's why Pattinson thinks that the romance in Twilight is weird and he isn't wrong:
"It's a weird story, ‘Twilight.' It's not just like – it's strange how people responded a lot to it. I guess the books are very romantic, but at the same time, it's not like ‘The Notebook' romantic. ‘The Notebook' is very sweet and heartbreaking, but ‘Twilight' is about this guy, and he finds the one girl he wants to be with, and he also wants to eat her. I mean, not eat her, but drink her blood or whatever. It's not that other people are telling them they can't be together, it's his own body telling him that."
It's kind of funny to see Pattinson say all this since he has been very open about his dislike of the franchise that made him a lot of money. We don't blame Pattinson for the move since he's redeemed himself over and over, so here's hoping his work in The Batman is top-notch stuff.
The Batman will be coming out on June 25, 2021.
