The Batman: The Penguin Spinoff Series Production Date Reportedly Revealed

One of the standouts of The Batman is Colin Farrell's transformative performance as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin. A lot of fans were delighted when HBO Max officially announced that the character's spinoff series titled The Penguin is moving forward. Now, it looks like we finally know when they are going to finally start their production.

According to the production list on the Film & Television Industry Alliance website, The Penguin is set to begin production on June 15 in Los Angeles, California. They also described the project as "a 'Scarface-like' series about the rise of the Penguin character. The Penguin, otherwise known as Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, is a dapper mob boss and one of Batman’s primary villains."

Lauren LeFranc (Agents of SHIELD) will serve as the writer and showrunner of the limited series. She will also executive produce alongside Matt Reeves, Colin Farrell, Dylan Clark, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassan, and Rafi Crohn.

"The world that Matt Reeves created for The Batman is one that warrants a deeper gaze through the eyes of Oswald Cobblepot," Farrell said in a statement during the announcement. "I couldn’t be more excited about continuing this exploration of Oz as he rises through the darkened ranks to become The Penguin. Will be good to get him back on the streets of Gotham for a little madness and a little mayhem."

While the information has not been confirmed by HBO Max, there is a chance that it is true since they've been working on the series for a while now. If it's not next month, it could happen anytime this year. We should be hearing more updates about the project very soon as they are heading towards the production phase soon. Either way, it's just exciting that they are doing the series.
