The Batman Star Zoe Kravitz Admits Catwoman Preparations Have Been Intense

There is little doubt that Zoe Kravitz has big boots to fill now that she has been cast as the new Catwoman. After all, the role has been played by great actresses like Eartha Kitt, Julie Newmar, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Anne Hathaway. Not surprisingly, Kravitz has admitted that her preparations to portray Selina Kyle in The Batman have been intense.

Kravitz was recently a guest on iHeartRadio's Questlove Supreme podcast where she discussed her new role in the highly anticipated Warner Bros. flick (via Comicbook.com. As expected, the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald star stated that it wasn't easy to prepare for the part even before production began.

"It's pretty intense," Kravitz stated. "We just started shooting two weeks ago, but before that I was in London for two months, just getting in shape, training, learning fights."

That's understandable considering that Catwoman is known for being a skilled fighter. Kravitz also shared that shooting the film itself is intense but it won't be a lengthy stint for her. The Big Little Lies actress revealed that production is expected to wrap up by summer.

We're not exactly surprised that Kravitz is working hard to become a convincing Catwoman. On the other hand, we've already seen her in action so we're looking forward to seeing her as the DC heroine next year.

The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves and will star Robert Pattinson as the new Caped Crusader. The film is currently in production and is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
