Just a few days after production has picked up, it was recently revealed that filming for The Batman has been halted once again after a member of the production has contracted the virus. Warner Bros. did not comment on the identity of the said crew member. Now, reports reveal that it was actually lead star Robert Pattison who has tested positive for COVID-19.
"A member of The Batman production has tested positive for Covid-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols," the studio says. "Filming is temporarily paused." However, Vanity Fair just confirmed that it was actually the lead star who contracted the virus.
Production for The Batman was in full swing when filming was halted back in March when the quarantine lockdown first hit, prompting most other projects to stop production as well. The shoot is said to have around 11 weeks left.
Typically, it takes around 2 weeks for a person to be quarantined when testing positive for the virus. With Pattinson getting sick, it's uncertain how the studio will proceed and whether or not they plan to wrap up shooting by the end of the year, it would be difficult to continue given that Pattinson is the lead of The Batman.
We hope that Pattinson gets well soon and given the mostly positive reaction to his upcoming film, here's hoping they could get back filming soon as well.
The Batman is set for release on October 1, 2021.
