It looks like The Batman isn't actually moving forward as expected. Although it has been confirmed that Robert Pattinson was infected with COVID-19, several reports claimed that production on the DC film has been going on without the leading man. However, a new report reveals that filming has been put on hold due to contact tracing.
It was previously reported that the cast and crew of The Batman have gone back to work on the movie while Pattinson was put on quarantine for 14 days. The report even stated that Matt Reeves has decided to film scenes that focus on the other characters and utilized body doubles for the Caped Crusader. On the other hand, Variety reveals that this isn't the case.
According to studio insiders, the only people still working on The Batman are the ones who are "doing construction work on sets and props at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, U.K." However, it also confirms that "people on the film team who were in contact with Pattinson are quarantining" and that "the production is still doing contact tracing."
"It is unlikely that shooting will re-commence until the roughly two-week quarantine period ends," the report reads.
There was also an update on Pattinson's condition, stating that it is "unclear" if the actor "has symptoms of the disease or if he is asymptomatic." For now, the studio "did not confirm that the star had tested positive and would only say that a member of the production had coronavirus."
