The Batman: Josh Gad Reveals He Will Not Play The Penguin In Robert Pattinson Film

We already know that Robert Pattinson is the new Caped Crusader but who will play Oswald Cobblepot in The Batman? Although Josh Gad has been the frontrunner for the role, the Frozen 2 star has just confirmed that he will not be playing The Penguin in the Matt Reeves film.

Gad has long been campaigning for the role of the Penguin in the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie. Not surprisingly, several fans are supporting the idea and there has been some fan art depicting Gad as the DC villain. However, the star of Murder on the Orient Express finally revealed that he has not been chosen for the coveted role. Take a look at his tweet below.

"Ok, seeing as I keep getting this question...as much as I have LOVED torturing you all with teasing you about the Penguin, I feel like it's time to tell you...I'm NOT actually playing this character. But I've thoroughly enjoyed the fan art and the love," Gad wrote.

This is certainly disappointing news for everyone who has been rooting for Gad to take on the role. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that Warner Bros. and DC will change their mind and cast Gad in the film.

Although he isn't playing the Penguin in The Batman (at least, for now), Gad is still a busy man. He is set to reprise his role as the snowman Olaf in Frozen 2. In addition to that, Gad will play Mulch Diggums in the upcoming adaptation of the Eoin Colfer novel Artemis Fowl.

Frozen 2 will premiere on November 22 while Artemis Fowl is scheduled for release on May 29, 2020. The Batman is expected to premiere sometime in 2021.
