The Batman is Aiming to Start Shooting Early 2020

Ever since Robert Pattinson has been cast as the new Batman, we've been getting more updates on the solo movie. Rumors on production start have been bouncing from late this year to early next year, but we may have a more specific date now.

According to Geek Vibes Nation, Matt Reeves' The Batman could start shooting March/April 2020 in London. Of course, we should still take this news with a grain of salt, but until we get some kind of official announcement from WB, it's the best info we have.

The movie promises to give us a Batman in his prime, and will have him going up against an entire Rogues Gallery of villains. So far, we know the movie is looking to cast the likes of Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face, the Mad Hatter, and Firefly. I don't expect all of them to have a significant role though. I'm fine with just one or two main villains, then the others will just be cameos.

We don't have anyone else cast in the movie yet, but I am hoping for a return of Jeremy Irons as Alfred and J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon. Though Affleck may be gone, I'm just hoping the DCEU gives us some consistency when it comes to their franchise. I'm fine that Joker is in his own world, and they could very well do the same with this one—just have Affleck return for the next team-up movie with Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa.

Matt Reeves' The Batman is expected to come out June 25, 2021.
