The Batman Director Confirms Chilling Detail About Riddler in Surprise Scene

The Batman has been out for over a month but it looks like fans are still noticing new details in the film after all this time. For instance, a few people have found that the Riddler was actually in an unexpected scene early on in the movie. Amazingly, director Matt Reeves confirmed that Paul Dano's character was actually hidden in plain sight!

We get to meet the Riddler pretty early in The Batman as he attacks Gotham City mayor Don Mitchell Jr. and leaves some clues for the Caped Crusader. We don't see him again until the attack on Gil Colson but some fans noticed that he was in a scene overlooking the Iceberg Lounge.

So was it really the Riddler or one of his followers? Matt Reeves found a tweet asking about the scene and immediately confirmed that the guy lurking in that apartment window was indeed Paul Dano's Edward Nashton.

It's a cool detail that confirms how the Riddler has been keeping tabs on everyone who has been coming in and out of the Iceberg Lounge (or the inner club 44 Below). This should explain how he managed to get hold of the incriminating photos of Mitchell with Annika and the Penguin.

The Batman is still screening in theaters and has already grossed over $751 million, cementing its status as the highest-grossing film of 2022, at least so far. The film is now streaming on HBO Max and is expected to reach more audiences on the streaming service.

The Batman introduced Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot. Farrell is set to reprise his role as the Penguin in an upcoming HBO Max spin-off series.
