There are lots of anticipated shows in the Fall 23 anime season, but The 100 Girlfriends is a dark horse given how ridiculous its premise is. Ahead of its premiere, The 100 Girlfriends got a new trailer that highlights its main girls and reveals the opening theme.

As its title implies, this upcoming anime is a harem show where the protagonist will have 100 girlfriends. This means it outdoes pretty much every harem anime out there which only has around five or so main girls.

Given how ridiculous this premise is, the show might just be crazy enough to be a big hit.

Officially titled The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You, this anime is made by Bibury Animation Studios of The Quintessential Quintuplets fame.

The series follows Rentarou Aijou, a high school boy who has been rejected by girls 100 times. Rentarou soon prays for a girlfriend, and his prayers are answered by a shrine god who promises that he’ll meet 100 soulmates.

Of course, he won’t meet all of them at the same time as the anime’s first season will only feature the first few girls. They are highlighted in the latest trailer, which you can see here:

The catch here is that if Rentarou does not get into a relationship with a soulmate, that particular girl will die. Thus, Rentarou decides to date all of them.

In the trailer, the show’s opening theme titled Dai Dai Dai Dai Daisukina Kimi e ♡ was highlighted, and it is performed by five cast members.
