Thanos Subreddit Honors Mad Titan By Banning Half Of Its User Base

Avengers: Infinity War might have had all of the members of the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy protecting the earth, but the film actually had Thanos at the very center of its story. The Mad Titan might be the most powerful villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he's also the most complex, his origin and motivations drawing audiences in the very moment they get to meet him.

Though a lot of fans continue to root for the Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Marvel's two-part Avengers movie, others have decided to side with Thanos.

Gathering together online, fans have created their own subreddit just for the Mad Titan and now the group has decided to honor the character by banning half of its users.

Imitating Thanos finger-snapping massacre in Avengers: Infinity War, the ThanosDidNothingWrong subreddit has decided to take out half of its users to pay respects to their favorite villain. Reddit's administrators weren't happy when they heard about ThanosDidNothingWrong's plan, but it looks like the subreddit's mods have already rolled out the ban, eliminating more than 100,000 people from its group.

Here's an explanation from TheJediApprentice, one of the moderators in the group.

"[A Reddit-Admin] told me that doing a massive ban the day before July 4 was a terrible idea, because many of Reddit's engineers would be out with their families. Also, the engineers would not be prepared for a mass ban so close to it. However, I presented a solution to these two problems, and now I have their permission to ban half the sub! The random 50% ban will take place on July 9^th. The admins are designing a bot for me that will allow me to do the job in a quick and easy manner."

It's a pretty funny joke, and it's pleasantly surprising to see that the subreddit's moderators and members were all okay with banning half of its members. We guess everyone's really into Thanos and his belief that bringing balance to the world means taking out half of the universe – in this case, half of the subreddit group.
