Taika Waititi Reunites with Jemaine Clement for The Incal Film Adaptation

Taika Waititi has found himself another epic project that will blow everyone's minds. The Thor: Love and Thunder director has just been confirmed to helm the live-action adaptation of Alejandro Jodorowsky's graphic novel The Incal. In addition to that, he will be reunited with What We Do In Shadows co-director Jemaine Clement!

On November 1st, Alejandro Jodorowsky teased that The Incal will be made into a movie. The writer tweeted that the film's director will be revealed on November 4 and fans were understandably thrilled to know that the graphic novel series is getting an adaptation. However, comic book readers were even more delighted when the adaptation's director was finally announced.

Taika Waititi's involvement was confirmed in a special video document prepared by Frank Pavich who had previously directed Jodorowsky's Dune. In the video, Jodorowsky explains that he is no longer capable of directing the adaptation of The Incal himself. However, he had found the perfect filmmaker to work on the project.

Waititi also spoke about how The Incal has influenced him, admitting that he reads the graphic novels over and over again. The Jojo Rabbit director stated that he always discovers something new everytime he reads it and is hoping this is something that translates into the film.

Interestingly, Waititi also revealed that he will not be working on The Incal on his own. In a tweet, he confirmed that Clement will be involved in the project. In addition to that, The Auteur writer Peter Warren will be working on the film as well. Needless to say, Waititi is bringing in the big guns for his latest movie.

The Incal was written by Jodorowsky and illustrated by Moebius. The graphic novel follows John Difool, who is believed to be in possession of the powerful crystal known as the Light Incal. As several factions try to get their hands on the crystal, Difool and his friends have to save the universe from the forces of the Dark Incal.

The Incal is still in development and has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
