It almost seemed like the anime had been abandoned as it has been years since a new update, but that’s thankfully not the case. The Sword of the Demon Hunter anime finally confirmed its 2024 release.
The anime’s release next year was revealed in the Sword of the Demon Hunter novel series’ final volume. There, it was also confirmed that the anime will be a TV series.
There’s still not a lot of new info aside from these, but the latest update should mean we’ll get more details soon.
After Over Three Years, the Sword of the Demon Hunter Anime Gets New Info
The Sword of the Demon Hunter anime was announced way back in 2021. Back then, it was only revealed that an anime adaptation was in the works.
Until recently, the anime received no further updates. During the three years since the anime was revealed, the series continued in the form of the light novel and manga.
This series began as a novel series that ran from 2013 to 2016. It was soon acquired by the publisher Futabasha, and it was released as a light novel series from June 2019 to November 2023.
In September 2021, the series got a manga adaptation that began serialization in Action Comics where it continues to get new chapters to this day.
The series may not be hugely popular outside of Japan, but it has gotten a fanbase in North America as both the light novels and manga are published in the region by Seven Seas Entertainment.
With the anime finally confirmed to release next year, the series will likely gain a larger following. After all, it has an intriguing premise that should pique the interest of historical anime enjoyers.

Sword of the Demon Hunter Anime to Be Released Sometime in 2024
The series is set in the Edo Period and follows Jinta, a bodyguard of a priestess in a remote village. As part of his duties, Jinta is tasked to vanquish a demon in the forest near the village.
Jinta encounters the demon who tells him of his mysterious future. Thus begins a story that spans 170 years.
Right now, there’s no word on which studio will animate it. No proper key visual or teaser has been released yet as well, meaning its release likely won’t be in early 2024.
Given this, it’s reasonable to expect the anime to be released in the second half of 2024 at the earliest, possibly even as late as Fall 24. That is unless we get more new info in the coming months.
