Marvel fans might be facing the culmination of the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that doesn't mean Marvel Studio's cinematic franchise is coming to an end. Marvel still has Phase Four, and while the studio's been keeping quiet about its plans for the franchise, it looks like cult director Jay Chandrasekhar is actually one of the contenders for a new Marvel film.
Speaking in an interview with Syfy to talk about his interest in different fan properties, the comedic legend opened up and revealed that Marvel actually wants him to come on board the superhero train. During the discussion, Chandrasekhar told the publication that the studio reach out to him, asking what kind of films would he be interested in and what projects he'd like to add to Phase 4 of the MCU.
"They sent me the Marvel Encyclopedia and they said, what do you guys want to do? So, it's upstairs. My kid's going through it. And he's going to make a list of what he thinks we should do, and I'll go through it. I'm curious to see what a 13-year-old's mind comes up with. There are certain ones that are owned by Fox, so you can't do those. But there are plenty of people there — I mean, look at Deadpool. You're like, well I didn't know you could do that. Great. Let's do something like that. Right?"
Chandrasekhar isn't the only one Marvel's approached though. According to the director, the studio's been reaching out to other filmmakers as well, a sign that says the studio's gearing up for the next batch of films it's going to develop after Avengers 4.
For those who aren't familiar with Chandrasekhar and his work, the comedian is best known for his films with Broken Lizard a comedy troop who he's worked with on films like Beerfest, Club Dread, and the cult classic movie, Super Troopers 2.
Knowing that how much Marvel loves levity, it comes as no surprise that the studio approached Chandrasekhar for a pitch for Phase 4 of the MCU.
