Suicide Squad Director David Ayer Denies Reports About Disliking Jared Leto's Joker

Jared Leto has been making the headlines lately and it has nothing to do with him being the Joker. In fact, it has everything to do with him not being The Joker, especially after the recent Joker movie from director Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix. Various reports claim that Leto tried to stop the movie from being made and some have even stated that the actor got on the bad side of the original Suicide Squad director David Ayer.

Apparently, that latter part is false since Ayer went on Twitter to respond to a fan asking him about the supposed Leto comments. Ayer simply stated that the information was inaccurate and that these are not his words or actions. This is pretty surprising since The Hollywood Reporter is usually pretty accurate but it looks like this was a rare miss, unless Ayer is lying.

To be fair Ayer, we wouldn't blame you for hating Leto in Suicide Squad. I would hate him too if he gifted me with used condoms and all those other things he supposedly gave cast members.

Leto's Joker might be getting written out of the DCEU, with both The Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) not featuring the actor. He could still appear and star in the rumored Harley and Joker movie but that project hasn't been updated in years. It looks like Leto's time with DC is up but he does have the upcoming Morbius movie to look forward to.

Joker should still be showing in theaters. Birds of Prey comes out next year, on February 7, 2020.
