Netflix’s immensely popular sci-fi horror drama Stranger Things is soon coming back to Netflix for Season 4, and the streaming service teased fans with not only a new trailer, but also released a map created by artist Kyle Lambert that shows locations from every season of the series, including Chicago, Russia, California, and Hawkins, Indiana. And while most of the series takes place in the fictional town of Indiana, a lot of fans can’t help but wonder if the references to other cities on the map could mean something more for the upcoming Season 4.
Having Russia and California on the map shouldn’t come as a surprise, as both will be featured in the upcoming season. Billy and Max moved to Hawkin from California back in Season 2 of the series, but it is also where Eleven is currently living with the Byers after taking off at the end of Season 3. For Hopper, although he is indeed alive, he is being held in a Russian facility. However, the fact that Chicago is on the map makes one wonder if some of the characters might return.
The most well-known storyline involving Chicago is the introduction of Kali back in Season 2, another child test subject from the Hawkins National Laboratory. Eleven uses her abilities to locate Kali after learning that there are other children who have abilities as well. She found Kali and her friends’ hideout and quickly made a bond with her who, just like Eleven, was reduced to a number: Eight. Kail is planning to exact revenge on all of the employees of Hawkins Lab, with the help of not just her friends, but also her powerful abilities that allow her to make people see what she wants by creating illusions.
It is reasonable to believe that Kali will be coming back in Season 4 with the focus of the Season 4 trailer showing other child test subjects from the lab. It is also worth mentioning that Murray Bauman used to work for the Chicago Sun-Times, but it seems more plausible that any references to Chicago in the new season will be revolving around Kali. It would be nice for the show to catch up with her one more time.
Fans will have to wait for Stranger Things Season 4 to be released which would likely be in 2022.
