Later this year, the stage play spinoff of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things is set to premiere in London. It will serve as a prequel as it is set around 25 years before the events of the show.

With the long wait that we have to endure for the show's fifth and final season, a lot of fans are looking forward to the play since it will be their glimpse into the show's expanded universe.

It remains to be seen whether the play will have a ramification in the final season or it will be a story of its own as Netflix and The Duffer Brothers' way to expand the franchise aside from the main series.

The official social media accounts of Stranger Things have released the first teaser video for its upcoming stage play titled Stranger Things: The First Shadow. Performances will begin on November 17 at Phoenix Theatre in London.

While the teaser didn't obviously give us a glimpse of the stage design of the play itself, it showed footage of several scenes from the series including the Vecna's origins which were part of the fourth season.

In the end, they teased the play as the "beginning of the Stranger Things story" and promises that it will have some clues about the final season.

The Duffer Brothers, Kate Trefry, and Jack Thorne are the minds behind the stage play's story. It will be directed by Tony Award winner Stephen Daldry with co-direction by Justin Martin.

The plot synopsis reads: "Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce just wants to get out as soon as she can.

"When new student Henry Creel and his family arrive, they find a fresh start isn’t that easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach."

If you are interested to watch the play in London, you may have to buy a ticket as soon as possible since performances until mid-December are already sold out.

This teaser should excite fans who have been looking forward to the play since they made a promise about how it could possibly connect to the final season. If you happen to live in London or nearby, this is certainly a great opportunity to be immersed in the world of Stranger Things.
