Stranger Things Creators Hint Possibility of Time Jump in Season 5

In just a few weeks, we will be witnessing the epic conclusion of Stranger Things season 4 with its last two super-sized episodes. While fans are excited to see how the season will end, there is also anticipation about the fifth season which will be the final one for the series. Now, the creators have shared some information about what they're planning for the show's endgame.

Speaking with TVLine, Stranger Things creators, the Duffer Brothers, revealed that they already planned out the story for the final season of the series. "I’m not sure we’re ready to say yet a start date for shooting. But a lot of it is pretty well mapped out," Matt Duffer said.

However, even though they already planned out the final season, they did say that they are still open for any changes once they hear the suggestions of the cast members. "We learn a lot every time we make a [season]," Matt said. "We’ve learned a lot just working with all of our new actors and the ones that we’ve worked with for a long time over this year [making Season 4], so I’m sure it’ll change a little bit from that outline."

Besides the fact that the brothers have mapped out their plans for the final season, they also noted that it will have yet again another time jump since the young cast members are growing up. "I’m sure we will do a time jump," Ross said. "Ideally, we’d have shot [Seasons 4 and 5] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that."

It makes sense that the fifth season will have a time jump since the young main cast members are growing up and it might have a continuity problem if they decided to start it right after the fourth season finale. It's also an opportunity for them to have a fresh start for the season since time has passed and have leeway on how they can set up their storyline. For now, let's see how the current season will end before we can actually speculate on the direction of the final season.
