Stranger Things 4 Star Breaks Silence on [SPOILER] Tragic Death

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4

After a month of anticipation, fans have finally witnessed Stranger Things Season 4's woeful finale. Although the Hawkins gang seemingly conquered Vecna in the end, Vecna still managed to incapacitate Max and slaughter the show’s latest fan beloved, Eddie. If that's not tragic enough, Vecna succeeded in cutting the line separating the Upside Down and the real world, setting up an epic season finale.

While we all wonder how the Hawkins gang would go against Vecna and take back their city from the menacing villain, Joseph Quinn, who plays Eddie Munson in the latest season of Stranger Things expressed his gratitude for his brief inclusion in the show. Despite his character's tragic death, he absolutely remains grateful.

Joseph Quinn was asked by Los Angeles Times about his thoughts on the audience's response to Eddie Munson's heart-wrenching death in the second volume of Stranger Things 4.

"I’ve been texting the Duffers intermittently during the hiatus period and yeah, we’re bracing ourselves," Quinn responded. "There’s a beginning, middle and end to every character’s arc and I feel incredibly touched by the reception that Eddie’s gotten, how inviting they’ve been. There’s a lot of devotion toward the show and its characters. I think about characters that I loved when I was growing up and now to think that someone out there feels like that about a character that I played is a kind of mental thing. It’s humbling and something I never expected to feel."

When asked if he has anything to say for those who are still mourning Eddie's demise, "Thank you for having him while he was here," he said.

Although everyone was already expecting Eddie's death in Volume Two of the season, of course, it was still disheartening to see such a well-rounded character face a tragic demise. However, Stranger Things is widely known for killing off beloved characters they've introduced in a single season, like Season One's Barb, Bob in Season Two, and Billy in Season Three. Despite that, fans still hoped that showrunners would have a different approach this time, sadly, it didn't happen.

Although Eddie wasn’t given a chance to clear his name, the Hawkins gang, especially Dustin, will certainly do anything in their capability to defend Eddie's legacy from Hawkins. Volume 2's finale also sees Dustin meeting Eddie's uncle Wayne Munson, which might mean that Eddie's story isn't over yet.
