Star Wars: Watch The Amazing Similarities Between the Birth and Redemption of Darth Vader

Though George Lucas may get a lot of flak for his work on the prequels, those films have no doubt a lot of thought put into them. One quote from Lucas about making the prequels that seems to stick with the fans is, "It's like Poetry, they rhyme. Every stanza rhymes with the last one." Now a fan has just spotted this neat "rhyme" in Revenge of the Sith that harkens back to Vader's redemption in Return of the Jedi.

Check it out:

The framing of Anakin and Vader is exactly the same as they watch Palpatine shoot someone they know full of Force lightning. The head movement is the same, and even the way Palpatine is positioned is similar.

It's worth noting that these two scenes also constitute important moments in Vader's life. The death of Windu is where Anakin first betrays the Jedi and becomes Vader; and Vader's betrayal of the Emperor is where he tries to redeem himself.

I thought that this was a pretty neat approach when it came to the films, and you can even see these "rhymes" with the Disney Star Wars movies as well. Though The Last Jedi may have been panned for being ‘too different,' it still had moments which harkened back to the original trilogy and even the prequels. When Rey asks Ben not to ‘go this way,' it's a mirror of Padme's pleas to Anakin not fall deeper into the Dark Side.

Hopefully with Episode IX, J.J. Abrams manages to bring the Skywalker story to a fitting end.

Catch Star Wars Episode IX in theaters Dec. 20, 2019.
