Star Wars VFX is All About Getting the Best Results on Camera

As a franchise that has seen the growth of technology from the time the first trilogy was rolled out, Star Wars has experienced the height of both physical visual effects and the more advanced digital approach.

While we're already in the height of advanced special effects, it's pretty obvious that the production crew still subscribes to how Star Wars was created back then, with more refinement and some elements of modernity in filming in place. VFX Supervisor John Knoll told Comicbook.com that he aimed to marry the approach of CGI with in-camera work to make an even better film.

"I didn't want the style of the movie to suddenly switch every time we went from live-action to some kind of virtual world. The animation group would create a beat, sort of a chunk of the battle, a moment, and animate it kind of in the round, without respective camera angles."

His goal was pretty simple: to opt for the smart way of doing the movie for the best results. What they did was to get as much action on the camera and let the effects come in later on, as we've seen in as far as how reshoots have made the film a lot better.

Here's to hoping that we'll see the same damn good treatment in the succeeding Star Wars movies.
