Star Wars: The Mandalorian Episode Director Reveals He Knows Baby Yoda’s Real Name


Star Wars fans might know Baby Yoda in Star Wars: The Mandalorian as the adorable, doe-eyed, Force-sensitive Child, but it seems like episode director Sam Hargrave knows the character's actual name.

Earlier this week, word came out that longtime Marvel stunt coordinator and director of Netflix movie Extraction had been hired by Marvel to direct an episode of the second season of The Mandalorian. Speaking in an interview with Collider about his time working with Star Wars, the filmmaker revealed that he had been allowed to learn one of the galaxy far, far away's biggest secret – Baby Yoda's true identity.

"Yes, I know the name of The Child," Hargrave said. "I carry that secret. It's a very heavy burden."

It turns out that Baby Yoda has an actual name. We're certain that Hargrave and the rest of The Mandalorian filmmaking team are keeping that secret close to their chest. Baby Yoda's name could hold a lot of meaning for the character. It might reveal The Child's connection to Yoda. It might reveal the Child's place in Star Wars galaxy' far, far away.

Or perhaps it could mean nothing, a simple secret that would throw fans off the scent of an even bigger secret in Jon Favreau's hit Star Wars series.

There's certainly a lot of excitement over the second season of The Mandalorian. Not only does Season 2 promise the return of Baby Yoda and Din Djarin, but there have also been reports of Ahsoka Tano making her first live-action appearance in the critically-acclaimed Star Wars series.
