Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Comic Reveals That Rey Never Really Beat Luke On Ahch-To

Rey (Daisy Ridley ) might have seeming been able to get the upper hand during her little tiff with Luke (Mark Hamill) in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but it turns out the jaded Jedi Knight wasn't beaten by Rey after all.

The comic book adaptation of The Force Awakens sequel just shed some new light on that dramatic fight sequence between Rey and Luke on Ahch-To (Screen Rant), revealing that Rey actually didn't push her teacher to the ground – Luke simply tripped on a few rocks while moving backward.

Those who've seen The Last Jedi might remember the tiff between Luke and Rey as one of the more dramatic sequences in the sequel trilogy installment. After Luke interrupts the Force Bond between Rey and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), the Force-sensitive orphan confronts her master and asks him for the truth about the transformation of Ben Solo. When Luke refuses to answer, the two exchange blows underneath a rainstorm till Rey forces her master down and gets an answer.

In The Last Jedi, Rey manages to Force-grab Luke's lightsaber and force him on the flat of his back on a staircase Ahch-To. However, in the comic book adaptation by Gary Whitta, we get to see one little change – Luke tripping on a few pebbles.

This might seem like a small little detail to some, however, the focus on Luke tripping on a couple of pebbles proves that Rey's win over her master was simply because of a slip. Not only does it keep Luke's reputation safe, but it also proves that Rey isn't a Mary Sue, but instead a student who found a bit of luck. There have been a lot of complaints about how Rey seems so capable despite having no formal training, and the scene where Rey seemingly bested Luke only irked the fanbase. Thankfully, Whitta's comic changes all that.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi #4 hits shelves on July 4.
