Set 200 years before the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars is ready to explore new grounds with The High Republic series. While the series' debut was delayed to January 2021, fans ought to be excited with the release of the first chapter of Star Wars: The High Republic - Light of the Jedi.

Courtesy of IGN, the first chapter of Charles Soule's novel has been released, teasing a catastrophic event that's to come. It basically paints the picture of how the event will kick off in the novel's story. Some of you might want to head onto the book blind, so it's best to avoid reading the first chapter. "This excerpt is our first look at the moment that changes The High Republic forever," Soule told the outlet. "The destruction of the Legacy Run is the catalyst for a galaxy-wide disaster."

Soule teases that this "moment of crisis" ought to make the Republic turn to the Jedi for help. He adds that Light of the Jedi's opening depicts an "epic disaster, and a heroic, thrilling response by both the Republic and the Jedi to save lives and end the crisis." The released piece kicks off a "much larger story" and is basically part of a "much bigger saga."

Star Wars: The High Republic - Light of the Jedi is set for release on January 5, 2021, from Del Rey books.
