Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Should Have Adapted Darth Maul Comic Arc

There is little doubt that the Siege of Mandalore was the only endgame for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. After all, the entire series has been building up to this battle right from the start. But what if Season 7 also adapted Darth Maul's story arc from the comic books? A new report suggests that the final season should have covered Darth Maul: The Son of Dathomir.

In Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 8, it was confirmed that Darth Maul has been controlling the Pyke syndicate while also ruling over Mandalore. This discovery led to Ahsoka Tano agreeing to work with Bo-Katan Kryze and asking the Republic to help them take Mandalore back from Maul. However, this is a huge surprise for fans who have only been following the animated series. After all, the last time they saw Maul in Season 5, his brother had just been killed by Darth Sidious and he was taken as a prisoner.

So how did Maul go from being a prisoner to the new leader of Mandalore? Screenrant confirms that this was answered by the comic series The Son of Dathomir. Interestingly, the comics itself were based on unproduced scripts for The Clone Wars. Since it was still unclear whether the show would continue, the scripts were used to create a comic series that focuses on Maul.

It might be disappointing to know we won't get to see Maul's epic fights from Son of Dathomir in The Clone Wars. Nevertheless, there is still a more important story that needs to be dealt with. The important thing is, Maul is already in place for the Siege of Mandalore.
